In 2019, I spent four unforgettable days in Sri Lanka celebrating my birthday.  I knew it was going to be a great trip and it was amazing from the moment I arrived until I departed.  It began with a 3 1/2 hour drive from Colombo to Kandy.  I stayed in Kandy for one day at the luxurious Golden Crown Hotel (click here for video).  While in Kandy, I visited the Temple Of Tooth Relic – for spiritual enlightenment, Kandy Lake, and the Bahirawakanda Temple.

The following morning consisted of a 2 1/2 drive to Dambulla to visit the Sigiriya Rock, Minneriya National Park (an elephant sanctuary), and the Dambulla Cave Temple.  The highlight of Dambulla was receiving a Shirodhara massage (click here for video).  This particular massage consists of the gentle flowing of oil on the forehead in a continuous stream using a special rhythmic swaying movement.

After a long day in Dambulla, we headed to Ulagalla which was  5 hours away.  The rain in Ulagalla spolied my excursions for that leg of the trip, but I was not upset because I was tired and ready to enjoy the nice villa (click here for video).  I was also greeted with special birthday meal and adult beverage.

The next day I was back in the car for a 4 hour drive back to Colombo to fly out.  I really enjoyed Sri Lanka and I look forward to going back and spending enough time there to really enjoy it.  Here is a video of the entire trip (click here for video).
