The Seven Colored Earths are a geological formation found in south-western Mauritius. It is a relatively small area of sand dunes comprising sand of seven distinct colors (approximately red, brown, violet, green, blue, purple and yellow). The Chamarel Waterfall was formed by the St. Denis River and has a waterfall height of 272 ft. The waterfall is surrounded by lush vegetation of Black River Gorges. Hinduism is one of the major religions in Mauritius, representing some 55% of the population. All across the island are Hindu temples of immense beauty and charm, and the two pictured are Maheswarnath Temple and the Sockalingum Temple.
